Ride Quality Measurements and Monitoring of Escalators and Moving Walkways
A correct diagnosis begins with a proper measurement instead of a subjective feeling. This was the sentence used in 2005 to introduce ISO 18 738 dealing with the measurement of the ride quality of elevators. In the last revision of this standard Part 2 has been published concerning the objective ride quality measurement of escalators and moving walkways. In this context vibration data of the load carrying members and handrails are measured and evaluated together with sound pressure levels in a manner allowing the human perception to be quantified during an escalator ride.
